ANI

UX Design

We designed an innovative and intuitive platform designed to seamlessly connect cultural institutions and businesses.

Problem Space

ANI needed a comprehensive HR Portal design to improve navigation, visual appeal, UX, and desktop optimization, as well as to address management issues.

Solution

Our team addressed ANI's challenges by designing a comprehensive HR portal that streamlined events scheduling and availability and facilitated individual and company-wide licensing for event visits.

Client Kickoff

During our initial meetup, we discussed the client's basic request for an HR/Management Portal for ANI, including events planning, license purchasing, and data-driven user overviews. These questions were collected to discern where the client is in their process and where our team needs to step in regarding the design process.

Client Intake

Based on the client questionnaire, the client needed a modern ANI account system. From the client's point of view, general users should access the ANI mobile app for cultural experiences. Memberships include general users, corporate admins (often HR/Benefits), and cultural institution admins (usually in marketing or sales).

Competitive Research

Our market research suggests that while there is significant growth and demand for perks in the workplace , there is a noticeable absence of a platform focusing solely on cultural content .

User Stories

We curated a set of user stories following the 'As a/I want to/So that' format. This approach was instrumental in shaping a user-centered design strategy , ensuring that the most critical portal features are addressed first while laying a foundation for future enhancements .

User Stories:

  1. As a user (corporate HR), I want to be able to create an account and log in.

  1. As a user I want to be able to access a dashboard upon log in to get a corporate account overview.

This should include scorecard, charts, and graphs.

    a) Number of purchased licenses

    b) Number of active accounts

    c) monthly visits

    d) aggregated visit experience rating circle chart

3. As a user, I want to view user overviews.

4. As a user, I want to purchase additional individual licenses

5. As a user, I want to purchase company-level visits and tickets (broadway shows, etc.)

User Flows

We created five key flows related to ANI's user stories to outline the actions and screens needed to navigate these flows. By mapping out these flows, we ensured a cohesive navigation process for each one. We divided each flow and assigned one per teammate. I was responsible for the 5th use flow and allowing for company-level visits and tickets (broadway shows, etc.) purchases. I wanted to provide a smooth and accessible flow regarding choosing an event, scheduling the event, and purchasing the event.

Wireframes

Medium fidelity wireframes were created to display the initial design and functionality of ANI's HR Portal. We created med-fi wireframes by delineating the details of our key user flows.

Style Guide

We developed a design system and style guide to streamline the look, feel, and design of ANI's Hi-Fi screens. This guide incorporated specific color palettes, fonts, icons, components, typography, and button layouts, giving ANI a cohesive visual identity.

Hi-Fi Screens

We created high-fidelity screens for each user flow, encompassing ANI's overall vision. This process brought our concepts, wireframes, and market research to life, guided by our style guide and design system to imbue the screens with warmth, depth, and personality indicative of ANI.

Dev Handoff

The transition from design to implementation marked a crucial phase in our project lifecycle. Our team reached a consensus on the tools and strategies to employ during this phase to ensure a smooth transition and the successful execution of our designs.

Lessons Learned

Utilizing Agile for Team Cohesion

Through my experience with ANI, I continued to internalize the immense value of utilizing Agile methodologies for enhancing team cohesion. Agile's iterative approach fostered a collaborative environment where our team members were encouraged to communicate regularly, share insights, and work closely together toward building a proper HR/Management Portal from scratch. By embracing Agile practices, we adapted to the client's vision more effectively, stayed motivated through weekly scrums, and ultimately delivered a high-quality product to the client.
